Data submission for the Great Backyard Bird Count is still open! If you watched birds during the weekend of February 13-16, you can submit data up until March 1. To submit observations or view sightings from the count, see this site:

As of tonight, birders have reported 75 species on 58 checklists in Washington, DC.

Red shouldered hawk
Hello, am new to East coast, coming from Portland, Oregon. To my utter joy, have noted two red shouldered hawks engaging in nest building activity on my property. Is there anyone in the DC area doing ornithologic studies on nesting buteos? kmr
