Novice and experienced bird watchers of all ages are invited to take part in this year's Great Backyard Bird Count. The count occurs each year on Presidents Day weekend, this year February 15-18. Data collected from the count provides a one-weekend snapshot of bird distribution across North America.
Birders may participate wherever they happen to be - whether at home, at work or school, or at local parks or wildlife refuges. Watch birds for at least fifteen minutes and count the highest number of each species that you see. Then enter your sightings online at birdcount.org.
The Great Backyard Bird Count is sponsored by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
