Mile: 22 - 23
Along the Potomac
Access to mile 22 is from Violette's Lock. Turn from River Road onto Violette's Lock Road and follow it to the parking lot at the end.
From late fall through spring, scan the river west of Violette's Lock for waterbirds. Many unusual species have been found at this location in recent years. The site is also good for migrant songbirds, especially orioles and sparrows, in spring.
