Our nation’s capital is going green and the District Department of the Environment (DDOE) is leading the way.  In celebration of Earth Day, DDOE is hosting Green DC Day on Monday, April 21, 2008 on Freedom Plaza in Northwest Washington, DC.  Green DC Day is designed to promote green living and a healthy environment.  Green DC Day kicks off a full week of Earth Day events taking place across the city.  Please join us between 10am and 4pm to celebrate the District’s going green efforts.

The National Zoo will celebrate its annual BirdFest with an outdoor festival that will take place on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival features interactive displays by organizations involved in bird conservation, research, and appreciation; hands-on educational activities and crafts for families; live birds of prey; and performances by Evergreen Theatre of Alberta, Canada.
